We all know that our children are the future. They learn fast, are exposed to new gadgets and technology at a much younger age, and they live in a very connected world — one that is vastly different to the world we grew up in. I’m often amazed by how my kids have embraced technology — computers and smartphones, and adapted to them so fast. My sons are often showing and teaching me new technological capabilities and features. Yet, one of my main worries is that they often now spend too much time on their devices, and not enough on interacting without them. I worry, too, about the content my sons have access to and if they are able to distil the correct information, knowledge and values. When chatting with them, however, I am happy that they are aware of some issues such as climate change and even changes in world politics. And I heartily encourage them to not only further their knowledge and interest in such areas, but also to think critically and independently when consuming information.
